FAQ

HAVE A QUESTION YOU DON'T SEE HERE? LET US KNOW!

Where do you source your raw materials?

We source all of our raw materials from reputable ceramic supply retailers both online and locally. We make sure to not only research the materials we use, but extensively test them in-house. Our clay bodies and glazes are sourced from manufacturers such as Amaco, Mayco, Laguna Clay, Standard Clay, and many more!

What is the difference between glass and ceramic ware?

We like to think that glass and ceramic actually have more in common than people think. Both materials need to reach extreme temperatures in order to be transformed into functional ware. The glossy finish on food safe ceramic ware is actually a form of glass making it just as safe and efficient in food grade applications.

What makes ceramic ware different is the fact that the end product is a lot closer to stone than it is to glass, hence the name stoneware for certain types of clay bodies.

the end result is a much stronger piece that does not break or chip easily, unlike glass,  and the potential for colors and textures that cannot be achieved with glass.

Ceramic pipes are also known for their ability to produce a clean and pure taste. This is because ceramic is a non-reactive material, which means it does not affect the flavor of the smoke in any way. This is especially important for smokers who are looking to fully enjoy the taste of their herbs or tobacco.

Are ceramic pipes safe?

Ceramic pipes have a widespread history of being used for tobacco smoking throughout the European and North American continents. The only thing that could possibly make a ceramic pipe unsafe for smoking is if it was not properly glazed using non-toxic food safe materials. A glassy or vitrified finish is required in order for a pipe to be safe for smoking. This finish makes it no different than a glass pipe. In addition, the clay body used to make the pieces can be carefully chosen to reduce the end average water absorption of the exposed clay body. This is to say, making sure the finished ceramic piece will absorb as little moisture as possible, thus preventing bacterial buildup.

How do you clean a ceramic pipe?

The most common method used to clean a ceramic pipe, much like glass pipes, is to create a solution of rubbing alcohol and salt. We suggest creating the solution in a small container and using a pipette to fill your piece with the solution while you plug all holes. Shake the piece vigorously and empty, rinse with water as needed. Repeat these steps as many times as needed until you feel you have completely cleaned your piece. We recommend letting your piece dry before using again.

Where are your products made?

We are a small ceramic studio based in Bucks County, PA. We create all of our products by hand and fire them in our in-studio electric kiln.
